However, listening to one of my favorite podcasts, Crack the Egg with Peyton Rogers (available anywhere you listen to your podcasts) hinted to one of my now favorite steps in the social media marketing strategy chapter of the textbook. Creating a social media calendar! Firstly, I love planning. It makes my heart happy and it keeps my head clear to look at the task at hand. Peyton recently made a podcast episode about one of her successful 2021 resolutions which was to post on instagram twice a week. She talked about how consistency was the key to growing her socials, but it wasn't easy at all. Having a calendar just for my socials is something that I have tried in the past, but I have not been disciplined enough to stick to it.
While I am getting better at sticking to my schedules, it is hard to come up with new and fresh content every week. Often times I will get super inspired, make a ton of content and, then never post it because I forgot it was there. So, when the book recommended scheduling posts, I realized that I had no idea how to do it for any platform but blogger. That is my snow day assignment to myself, discover how to schedule posts. I am fascinated with all the ways social media helps us communicate and I hope to create and grow my own platforms as I transition from student to working professional actress in the next year. I know that I wish I had someone giving the inside scoop on how to "make it" when I was younger. I hope to build that educational aspect into my social media presence. It will be so exciting to figure out the best way for me to plan my content! Maybe I will use some color-coding, post-it lists or, a good old fashioned planner!
I definitely feel that consistency is key to have a fluid schedule. I usually try to plan my week ahead of time to know when I can post my blogs. For finding out what to write for your blogs I usually do things that either happened during my week or an event that has happen. Hopefully this helps!
